"The language of movement that Van Daele created with his dancers is fast, wild and full... The presence of the musicians on stage, their movements and their communication with each other are extremely fascinating to monitor during the performance."
"The dancers are accompanied live by the Swiss/French Ensemble Batida. Their instrumentation includes not only conventional instruments such as piano, keyboard and drums, but for instance also a typewriter. At times they softly whisper French texts to the dancers, while later on they hit their instruments with full force. The composition of Richard van Kruysdijk gives a boost to the dancers and strengthens the choreography."
Mehmari isn’t simply prolific. His work has floored writers and fellow musicians around the globe.
Each piece seems to channel volumes of musical history and understanding.
He deftly integrates whatever interests him at the moment, but nothing about his work sounds calculated. Into every project, he injects a mesmerizing passion.
